Daddies Day

Its Daddies Day this Sun so I'm wishing all the fathers out there a very Happy Daddies Day!

While I was driving to work this morning, JJ & Ian at Hitz.fm was talking about how they're replacing Daddies Day with Mommies day because they think Mommies deserve two days instead of one which, I agree because i'm a mom myself and I deserved to be pampered ahahahha! but Daddies play a certain role in upbringing their kids so they do deserve a day in the year (Yes, it includes how they teach our sons to burp and fart like a man among other USEFUL lessons in life) .... So listening to them on the radio this morning got me to ponder on how my relationship was with my dad.

Dad has always been the "Tim The Tool Man Taylor" minus all the wrecking Tim used to do in the series ahahahha. Being the eldest, dad was always including me in doing all the minor repairs in the house (plumbing, wiring, etc), minor car repairs (mainly because I got small hands that can fit in small area in the engine) and his various woodwork and steel work projects. I spent most of my teenage life being the "jack of all trades" in the house mainly because dad was transferred to Tawau for a few years so all the minor repairs fell on my hands. I remembered feeling like I've accomplished something great everytime I managed to fix something without dad's help. I remembered that I loved getting black engine oil on my hands and face when helping dad fix our souped-up double cab we called 'BigFoot' and changing the all the normal tyres to the big-ass-up-to-my-waist type humongous tyres all by myself if dad's going hunting for wild boars. He also taught me how to cut up and clean the WHOLE wild boar with parang and blow torch.

When I was about 6 or 7, he taught me how to swim. During those days, my dad had a boat and almost twice a month we would go out to Pulau Sapi or Manukan or Mamutik for bbq with some family and friends. So this particular day, we went out with most of my cousins and uncles and aunties. When dad parked the boat at the jetty, all my cousins jump straight into the sea to swim to shore. I didnt know how to swim so I stayed in resting my chin at the side of the boat envying my cousins who was having so much fun. Guess what dad did? He picked me up from behind and threw me in the water! He was shouting "Branang! Branang!" from the boat. So within a split second, i taught myself how to swim in order to survive ahahahhaha, well, branang kampung style lah ikikikiki. I guess he wasnt too worried coz some of my older cousins were still swimming around the boat. All i can say is, his 'teknik' worked on me.

My dad took up diving when I was 9 and he signed me up for SSI Junior Open Water diver when i was 11/12. A year later, my dad became an instructor. We had 20 tanks, a huge amount of bcds, masks, fins, weight belts (some which me and my dad made ourself), regulators etc etc and even the compressor to fill up the tanks. We dived (either just the two of us but most of the time with students or other friends) almost every weekend and when we got home after the dives, there I am, cursing under my breath coz i have to soak and clean all the equipments and when its dry put it back in the store room. Then come next weekend, there I am again, packing all the stuff into our trailer and filling up the tanks the day before. Hmmm maybe thats why i was so slim last time ahahahahh! I remembered one incident when my dad went diving with Uncle Will Lai. We were then to mabuk laut to dive so we stayed in the boat. So there goes my dad in the water with Uncle Will. 5 minutes later he surfaced. I thought something might be wrong with his gear. He took out the regulator from his mouth and said "Patutlah galap...." while taking off his mask and took off his SUNGLASSES to hand it over to me MUAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH! On another incident, we went diving around Pulau Sapi, just the two of us. When we were in the water, I was busy trying to catch up with Dad coz he was wearing the black hard heavy flippers so he didnt have to flip/paddle hard but he went fast and i was wearing my pink and black soft flippers my dad bought for me for my bday (whole set of diving gear in pink and black!) so i had to really kick to catch up. Then he stopped at a drop off, the water in front of me looked dark blue. I was so happy he stopped coz i wasnt enjoying my dive at that point, not one bit! When i finally caught up with him, there right in front of my face a big shiny barracuda passed by inches from my mask. Nearly had a heart attack i tell you!!!!

Yeah, I had a lot of fond memories with dad. Too many to mention here. Yes, I've been a brat at times but dad's patience level can be quite amazing...

So Cheers to you Daddy!
(altho he dont drink anymore)
Happy Daddies Day Babe!
Happy Daddies Day to Daddy In Law!
Happy Daddies Day to Eriq too!

I LAP YOUS!!!!!! MUAKS!

28th May 2009

My bro Json had an accident on the 28th May while driving to Bintulu to visit Steph, his gf. He lost control of the car and it ended up doing a back flip twice and fortunately it didnt land turtle. My mom called me up that day to tell me and I was shaking when she told me. I thought both my bros was in the car coz I knew Bro JJ was suppose to join his. For some fortunate reason, Bro Json didnt wake Bro JJ up so he ended up leaving by himself. I'm very thankful to God for protecting him and he just suffered some cuts and bruises. He was even joking about it saying he felt like superman while the car flipped and "Starring mah sia!" with a big smile on his face (jeezzzzz! I felt like knocking his head when he said that! AHHAHHAHAHAHA)

Here are some pics...

So I guess we'll be having a road trip to Miri again when the car is done fixing....

Congratulations Shone & KT!!!!
Hugs & Kisses to Baby Yaya from Auntie Jae and Baby D!

1st confirmed case of H1N1 case in Malaysia today!

Oh My God! The dreaded H1N1 virus has finally reached Malaysia!

Malaysia confirms first H1N1 flu case
Posted: 15 May 2009 1432 hrs

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia confirmed on Friday its first case of H1N1 flu, the country's top health official said.

"I can confirm (that it) is the first case in Malaysia," Health Director General Ismail Merican told AFP. His confirmation followed a statement from the health ministry giving details of the country's first case.

"The patient is a 21-year-old male student who had just returned from the United States on May 13, 2009 and who was down with fever, sore throat and body aches on May 14," it said.

"This is the first A (H1N1) flu case found in Malaysia," the statement added.

It said the patient went into the Sungai Buloh quarantine facility in central Selangor state on the same evening and is now in a stable condition.

It urged all passengers who travelled on the Malaysian Airlines flight MH091 from Newark in the United States to Kuala Lumpur that landed at 7.15am on May 13 to contact the ministry for further instructions.

The ministry said it had so far received 11 flu-like cases for investigation with all the patients warded and isolated for monitoring.

"All these cases showed symptoms of flu and had a history of visiting countries infected with the outbreak (but) all their clinical samples had been sent to institute for medical research for lab tests and tested negative," it said.

On Tuesday, the government urged its citizens to defer travel to the US, Mexico, Canada, Spain and Britain following reported cases of H1N1 flu in those countries.

Health authorities have installed 20 thermal scanners at the country's entry points to help detect cases, with 9,324 passengers screened so far.

The latest World Health Organisation figures show the number of laboratory-confirmed H1N1 flu cases worldwide is 6,497 in 33 countries.

A total of 65 people have died from the disease, most of them in Mexico, WHO figures show.

Back from holiday....

I know I know...Its been a while since i came back from my KL holiday and this post has been sitting in my draft for a while now...
SORRY! been extremely busy bah!

Before my KL holiday had to rush to prepare for an upcoming Discovery filming shoot (sorry, cant tell you what it is! ekekek) then when i came back, terus continue again coz the film crew arrive the day after i got back...

KL was really fun and tiring. Almost everyday we would spend the wholeeeeee day in the shopping malls. I got most of what i had written in my shopping list but i had to strike a few things off the list tho coz i cant carry it home ahahhaha. Yes, I had the whole Ikea in my shopping list thats why i couldnt carry it home ekekekeke... We went to the Zoo and Sunway Lagoon. I can see Dylan was soooooooooooo bored when we went to the zoo except when he saw the birds eheh! So I guess the next time we bring him there would be when he is 4? But he loved the animal show they had there tho. They had parrots, sea lions and more parrots!

In Sunway Lagoon, as usual Dylan loved the water. He was on Wen Wen's boat float with legs kicking underneath and walking around with it still in between his legs when we were in shallow water!

Here's some pics....

My Weekend...

Last Friday, we had our Good Friday holiday so we had a long weekend off from work. So, here's how my weekend went...

Thurday night after putting Dylan to sleep, I finally watch Benjamin Button that has been sitting on top of my tv for the last 2 weeks. Loved the movie, SO SEDIH! Especially the part right at the end where the baby closed his eyes... HUAAAAAAHHHH! Thank god Hubby was downstairs watching tv, if not kena kasi malu lagi ikikikik...

anyway after drying my tears, I went downstairs to watch astro with Hubby. Its been awhile since we actually cuddled together to watch tv, so it was a treat. We watched 'WIPEOUT' and it was HILLARIOUS!!! Dont know if you've ever watched it but its an obstacle course game type program where the winner stands to win USD50k.

Friday morning, Hubby, Dylan and I went for Kon Lau Ikan breakfast with MIL and SIL in Sunny Garden. Then lepak at home for a little while before going to my parents house in Likas. Dylan took a nap so me and Hubby went to get the car washed. Then went to St Simon for mass. Tapao food the went home. At night after Dylan went to sleep. I went for drinks at The Loft with my boss and colleagues and two friends visiting from Singapore, Sol Foo and Vika.

Saturday morning and afternoon just stayed home and played with Dylan coz Hubby had to work. Showed Dylan some online baby games on Fisher-Price website so he was happilly banging away on my pc keyboard. Went for karaoke, drinks and pool at Le Face with my friends and colleagues. Tried to sing, but damn my voice didnt want to join the fun. Was croacking by the end of it ahahahha...

Sunday went for dim sum at our favorite place called SeaPark in Bornion. Will post some pics next time I go there ekekek... went home, all 3 of us took a nap. Then Dylan woke up so we played somemore. He is walking all by himself by now... here's a very short video of him walking...

After that he walked to my brother's room, knocked the door then when my brother open it he would quickly walk away laughing. Wished i had that on video ahahahah!

In the afternoon, went out with Mom, Dad and Dylan to Wawasan Plaza coz Dad wanted to get some new pants. Went to dinner then waited for Hubby who went to entertain some clients before going back to Menggatal.

That was my Easter weekend, how about yours?

Counting the days... TO MY HOLIDAY!!

Today is Wednesday, so 2 more days and I'm flying to KL for holiday! WOOHHOOO!!! Sorting out my shopping lists, packing lists etc etc.... I also have to remind VSK (YES, I AM TALKING TO YOU!) to meet me in KL to go shopping for our bestfriend KT's baby shower present. She's due on the 1st of May and she's having a boy! Yay!

I have all my holidays planned out this year - annual leaves, flights and hotels all booked. From the 11th - 16th August I will be in Penang for my Bro Jayeson's convo then from 28th Oct - 1st Nov I will be going to KL again for Sis Cyn's convo. With all these booked, it means that I only have 3 days annual leave left for the whole year, sigh... so Im keeping it for Xmas or New Year ekekek...

Hopefully for my holidays next year, its gonna be out of Malaysia. Its been awhile since my trip to Jakarta and that was my first trip out of Malaysia in YEARS! So Babe, can we go Bali or Bandung or Macau or Thailand next year please? preety preeeeeettttyyyy please pleaseeeee???????

New happenings with Baby D!

Dylan is now 1 year 8 days... sigh so fast....

Yesterday he started to want to walk all by himself. He can clap his hands now and if you are singing he will clap his hands while humming along with you (no melody yet tho ahahahha!). He can pinch little bits of bread or biscuits with his little fingers to put in his mouth. The other day while I was feeding him some porridge, he insist that he feeds himself with the spoon. He will say 'mom' or 'momom' if he's hungry. He likes those pickled ginger tidbits (Pedas lagi tu! Don't ask me why he likes it coz I also dunno). He can eat any kind of vege especially bittergourd if I mince it. Loves soup. Loves to play with a ball. A little afraid or geli with cats and dogs (I have no idea why but its a good thing for now, dont have to worry about him touching the animals then put his fingers in his mounth ;-D ). If he hears you kentut, he will laugh or give you that cheeky smile of his. He kinda refuses to sleep at night if Im not home. Two more teeth coming out on the lower jaw, meaning saliva everywhere! Dont care about anyone else if DIL aka his 'human walker' is around. And he pointed at me the other day and called me MAMA - FINALLY!!!! But so far he only called my twice, cish....

Never Argue With A Woman

Loved this quote my colleague, Jane sent me yesterday and just had to share it with all of you...

So people, learn your lesson - NEVER MESS WITH WOMEN!!

Dad's been sick... again...

One of the reason why I've been lagging on my posts was because my dad got admitted to the hospital yet again the day after Dylan's birthday splash. I applied for leave the day after Dylan's bday to bring Dylan for his jab at the clinic but I was also thinking about bringing Dad to SMC coz he didn't looked too good the day before.

I was secretly plotting my plan to kidnap him after Dylan's jab ekekeke (coz he usually wouldnt go unless really necessary).... So that night, after putting Dylan to sleep, we played jimrami again as usual coz Kakak and family was still in KK. At 1am, we all stopped and went to bed la. But I couldnt sleep eventho was sooo sleepy so I watch an episode of House. When I finally got to sleep, I kept waking up every hour (macam tidak senang hati ni) til suddenly my mobile rang (set my mobile to say the name of the caller) at around 5am. True enough, my mom called to tell me that Dad is in SMC because he was complaining of chest pain and breathlessness. Right after I talked to mom, Dylan woke up. So me and hubby got dressed and left Dylan with MIL and DIL.

Arrived SMC at around 6am and Dad was in the ward. He was wearing the oxigen mask and complaining about his chest, so me and Mom massage his back, head and neck. After that the Dr Liew came to check on him and found out that he actually has water in the lungs because his kidney could no longer filter out the water. The tube in his arm (done in a small surgery to prepare for his dialysis two months ago) was not in good shape yet to use so they had to do a small surgery to insert another tube in the vein at the side of his neck for emergency dialysis. Right after that he was wheeled off to ICU. Had a chat with the doc and he said Dad should've gone for dialysis a month ago but you know la, Dad is very stubborn and all the while saying he will not go for it as long as he can survive without dialysis. But at last, doc said he came very very close to you know what and he really needs it now (that made my heart stopped for a little while).

For the next few days, alot of our family, his friends, staffs and colleagues came to visit him (until kena marah the nurse coz non-stop ppl come ekekek). He was happilly chatting away with them (I kept his mobiles with me so that he gets some rest tho I didn't (not complaining!) coz I had to entertain lots of his calls and replying smses). On Thurday, he was well enough to move to the normal ward and finally went home last Tuesday afternoon.

Many thanks to all the doctors and nurses of SMC who took great care of my Dad and also to all his friends, staffs and colleagues who took the time to see him while he was in SMC. I'm really touched and blessed to see that my Dad meant alot to many people. Thank you God from the bottom of my heart for keeping my Dad safe....

Dylan's 1st Birthday Splash!

Sorry, late post... been busy bah... more coming!

Dylan's 1st birthday party Sunday before last (real birthday was yesterday the 26th) was a success and everyone especially the kids had a BLAST! It was a very relaxing day, no stress whatsoever! Hubby and I were getting a bit worried tho coz there was a black overcast and i think i saw a thunder or two but that was it, no rain at all! THANK YOU GOD!!!

It took us a month before the party to find the best location and which is within our budget, so finally we chose TNGC Club House in Bundusan, Penampang. All the staff was really helpful and friendly, food was great, there was enough parking for everyone, pool, surrounding and especially the washroom/changing room was clean.

My Sis did a great job creating the invitation card and the cartoon she used in the card was sooooooooo cute!

Hubby's pastry chef friend made a Pocoyo cake for Dylan.

Ng, hubby's friend also made a banner for us...

We got Geo the Magic Clown to entertain the kids and he was great! He made balloon animals, flowers, hats etc for the kids and some adults (like my hubby hihihihi) and he also did a magic show! Here he is posing with all the balloon models of the year

After the magic show, pool session begins. We bought Dylan a yellow float which is like a baby walker that he could sit in. From the first moment I put him in the kiddies pool, he was absolutely loving it! Within a few seconds he was already trying to walk in the water, splashing, jumping, playing with the other kids. Then about a minute later he found out that he could push himself forward then stretching his arms and legs out like trying to swim! A natural i tell you ahahah! I think he takes after me in this department ikikikik, sorry Babe! (Wait till you're 10 Dylan, Momma's gonna send you for open water diving class!) Bro Json bought Dylan a walrus float altho he didnt get to use it much coz it wasnt stable enough for him yet. After a little while, hubby went inside the big pool so I got Dylan in the pool with Hubby thinking that he was gonna be scared. But no, he was happilly sitting in his float looking at everybody. At one point, Hubby and Bro JJ even "forgot" about Dylan and he was floating all by himself ahahahah!

Aaaaahhh, summary of the day was... PERFECT!

You can see pictures from that day here

Sis in law and Family balik kampung and Dylan's 1st bday

Yahoooo! My sis in law (short formed to Kak), brother in law (short formed to BIL) and my sweet niece Wen Wen and nephew Orlando are coming back to KK tomorrow! I can't wait!!!! The house will be noisy with my niece saying "No Baby boy No! No Baby D No!", Orlando singing his alphabets but instead of the alphabets he goes "YA YA YA YA YA YA YA..." and so on until the song is finished, jimrami blocks knocking around (aaahhh music to my ears!) and Kak and I strapped to our seats at the jimrami table while keeping an eye on the kids.

Our daily routine would be like this... The hubbies would usually go off for a round of golf in the morning. Then us girls and the kids would go for breakfast and jalan jalan for a bit then come home. When the kids are having their afternoon nap (IF they go to sleep!), then the 3 of us minus SIL (but sometimes we have to coax her to play so that we have enough kaki) would quitely continue our round of jimrami while waiting for the kids to wake up. Kids wake up, jimrami on pause, kids makan. Hubbies come home, go mandi. Sambung play jimrami. by 6 or 7, jimrami on pause, everybody else go mandi then all go out for dinner. After dinner, come home, put the kids straight to bed, 4 kaki play jimrami. Between 12 to 3am (depending on how sleepy all the kaki are), jimrami on pause, everybody go to sleep then next morning repeat step 1...

ahahah best kan! But this time around they are coming back for Dylan's 1st Bday Splash this Sunday. I say splash because it will be a pool party for the kids, with a special performance by a clown and lots of balloons and cake! Oh My God! So cepat my Baby Dylan is going to be 1! The party is this Sun but his actual bday is on 26th March. Now am having a headache organising the guest lists, RSVPs, Maybes from FB, emails and smses. Some have not RSVP'd so Im not sure if they are coming or not so i guess i have to call them. Anyway, will post some pics of the party next week!

Woman seeks cabbie who made her pregnant

Other News & Views
Compiled by KNG ZHENG GUAN, NG SI HOOI AND A. RAMAN

A MALAYSIAN woman is distributing pamphlets in Singapore in a bid to track down a taxi driver who she claims had made her pregnant, China Press reported.

The 30-year-old beautician said the man, a Singaporean who was married, had disappeared after she told him that she was pregnant.

She said she had sex with the man, who was in his 40s, during their first meeting.

“I do not know why this has happened. He told me he could get me a work permit,” said the woman, who had gone to Singapore to look for a job.

How stupid can she be anyway! He's a married man for God's sake! Obviously he was only up for having fun and telling her all that sweet stuff to get in her pants. Double DUH for you lady!

Ban on the word "Allah"

I saw an article yesterday on Star Online and it is bothering me, here it is below…

Tuesday March 10, 2009
Remaining states to gazette ruling for non-Muslim publications

KUALA LUMPUR: The four states which have yet to gazette a ruling prohibiting non-Muslim publications from using the word “Allah” will soon follow suit once the Conference of Rulers issues them a guideline on the matter. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Penang, the Federal Territory, Sabah and Sarawak would soon gazette the ruling as part of their state enactments on Islamic matters. “These four states are without rulers. Hence, Islam is under the King’s jurisdiction. It (gazetting of the ruling) will be done very soon. “They will follow the guidelines to be determined by the Conference of Rulers,” he told reporters after the national-level Maulidur Rasul celebration at Dataran Merdeka here yesterday. It was reported that action could be taken against non-Muslim publications, including the Catholic weekly The Herald in 10 states if they were found to be using four words related to Islam, which included “Allah.” Johor, Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Kelantan, Tereng-ganu, Kedah, Perlis and Selangor have made the ruling part of their state enactments on Islamic matters. A fatwa had been issued to prohibit non-Muslim publications from using the words “Allah,” “Kaabah,” “Solat” and “Baitullah” in reading materials. The Catholic church has applied for a judicial review over the use of the word “Allah,” seeking to quash the decision of the Internal Security Minister (now Home Minister) in a letter on Feb 12, which imposed conditions on the publishing permit of The Herald.

Now my question is WHY? Fine, you can take away the word “Kaabah”, Solat and Baitullah, but surely “Allah”? Im sure many Muslims friends would agree with me. All my life here in KK, I have never came across any mumbo jumbo about any of my muslim family or friends who got ‘CONFUSED’ about the word “Allah”. “Allah” means GOD and GOD is one, no matter what religion. Islam spells love, peace, honor, justice, equality, respect and tolerance for all religions of GOD. I see NONE of that in what the government is doing now. What is that percentage of muslim extremist group they are trying to please compared to the minority religions in Malaysia anyway? Possibly this only happens in the west? Coz I sure don’t see any of this idiotical (is this actually a word?? Ehehe) mentality here.

Ironically, there is another article in the Star on the same day, here is part the article…

Tuesday March 10, 2009
Uphold unity, solidarity
By JANE RITIKOS

KUALA LUMPUR: Unity and solidarity must not be taken lightly as they are crucial to developing a nation, said Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin.
The King said uniting communities must be a continuous process. He said this in his address at the national-level Maulidur Rasul celebration at Dataran Merdeka here yesterday. This year’s theme is “Unity as the catalyst for creating the best nation.” Tuanku Mizan said that when people become greedy and selfish, disasters would follow. He said Islam forbade misappropriation, abuse of power and discrimination but preached peace, equality and co-operation. The King urged Muslims to emulate Prophet Muhammad’s way of life, where unity and solidarity are emphasised in national development.

To outlaw the use of the word “Allah” for non-muslim is misappropriation and discrimination and not to mention disrespectful. He was quoted saying “when people become greedy and selfish, disasters would follow”. This new law/fatwah my friends, is the PERFECT example! Ruling that the word BELONGS to Islam and Islam alone is greedy and selfish and I will not be surprised if “DISASTER” will follow. How long has this word been used by non-muslims in Malaysia and there was never any issues with it, SO WHY SHOULD IT BE AN ISSUE NOW?! Yes, we the minority religions get it, Islam is the superior religion in Malaysia and we have no problem with it. But there is no need for stepping on toes and stabbing us to enforce it. Just because 10% expressed their concerns about confusions you have to piss the other 90% off?? Unity is the way forward and what the government is doing now is DIVIDING. Our leaders have always preached about UNITY and HARMONY. Bleh! Im sorry, maybe we Malaysians was so vain to see that they ACTUALLY meant unity and harmony within the Muslim community ONLY and NOT OUR NATION AS A WHOLE?? Please get off our toes and take the knife back, listen to the vast majority of Malaysians both Muslims and non Muslims, revoke that silly law to instil peace and harmony while you still can. You’ve just marred Malaysia in the eyes of the world…

Baby D is almost 1!

Baby D is almost 1 now, he’s growing up so fast!

He can point if he wants something, wave goodbye, gesture for you to come to him, walk with 1 hand support – unstable tho ehehe, loves to kick a ball or anything on the floor (he might be the next David B???), lovesssssssssss any cartoon with lots of music and singing (I think he gets that from me eheh), loves that golf advertisement with the ‘aiyer aiyer’ song (he would stop whatever he is doing and just watch it from start to finish, hmmm the next Tiger W perhaps?), must spend at least a minute pretending that he is driving at the steering wheel before we go off to work every day, say dedde and just this morning PAPA very clearly, ‘berr’ for bird, ‘duh’ for duck, ‘tutu’ for his toy tortoise but still no sign of Mummy or mama or even ma or mi yet! Im getting frustrated, at this moment ANY word specifically for me will do! C’mon Baby D, give momma a word!

Its been awhile!

Its been awhile since I blogged.... so here I am again and hopefully I dont forget about this blog again EVER!
